Well, we received the syllabus today, but thank goodness that we did not go through it word for word. I could not have handled hearing one more procedure.
Today, Mrs. Kiel began with a minute read and started Tuesday's with Morrie. She read for about 8-10 minues and then we all participated in an ice breaker. I know another one! After we finished, Mrs. Kiel shared the classes results from People Non-Bingo.

In the beginning of class, Mrs Kiel read Tuesday's with Morrie and the rest of class time was used to finish outlines. I hope everyone has a great night! =]

Well yesterday, September 24, 2007 Mrs. Kiel was absent and we had a substitute. The sub gave a journal and we did that for the first part of class. The journal was "If i could change on thing about the school..." After that we had to do an outline of Ch.1 pgs. 13-17 and we worked on that for the rest of the hour.

THIS IS FOR SEPT 25, 2007

Today in class, Mrs. Kiel gave us journal number 5. The journal was: "What is school spirit? What does it really stand for? Is it important? Why or why not?" After everyone was done journaling, we discussed our thoughts and feelings about the journal entry in a class discussion. After we were done discussing the journal, Mrs. Kiel told the class we would be watching a movie called "Nell." Mrs. Kiel said the movie has alot to do with psychology and it would be a great reference. After we were done discussing the movie, Mrs. Kiel gave us the rest of the hour to finish outlines from the previous day.

Yesterday, October 2nd We spent most of the hour finishing up our study guides for todays test. At the end of the hour Mrs. Kiel gave us the answers on the ones we were unsure of. The only homework we had was to study for Ch 1 test.

I would've posted yesterday, but I couldn't get to a computer until this morning.

Anyway, we had sub. for the class and we took the test. It was a fairly decently easy test. I think that is about it. See you all in school!

Today (Monday October 8th) we had journal entry #8: Which typer of observation do you belive would be the easiest to conduct? Why? Most dificult? Why? After the journal we discussed the curling iron incident and a brief discussion of the movie we are going to start woatch called "Nell" Then we got a handout "Types of Observation" that is to be completed during class and uses as a study tool for the chapter 2 test. We also as we were working got too see our grades and then discussed the worksheet at the end of the hour.

today in class we finished the movie We Are Marshall. We had a journal enty #8 which was:

if the only reference you had to describe human behavior was this film how would you explain it? What examples would you give? would their be anything you need to add? What?

and we did a splat on the board. A splat is when you pick a topic, are topic was Human Behavior for the movie We Are Marshall. Then you say all the words that describe that movie.

and i think thats about it

katie k.

On October 17th, we continued watching "We Are Marshall" and continued the note taking as well. We discussed the film before hand and how human behavior ties in. That's basically all. Keep your notes, we're working on then tomorrow!

Thursday October 18th, 2007. Today we listened to Tuesdays with Morrie and then had a Journal entry on it. It was #10 - "So far, what do you think of Morrie, and why do you think he is the way he is based on the Action/Reaction concept (as discussed yesterday)?" After the Journal we got a handout that was a Graphic Organizer for Chapter 2 and we worked on it then went over it together. We then got some vocabulary words that we will have a quiz on tomorrow (Friday 19th). They are on pgs 40 - 47: APA, Placebo, Double-blind study, dependent variable, ethics, deception, independent variable, experimental group, Hawthorne effect, experimenting on animals. After talking about those we had the rest of the hour to ourselves. Tomorrow we will be starting mean, median, and mode and statistics.

Friday October 19, 2007:

Mrs. Kiel started off today by giving us an option to work more on chapter 2 or to watch a Discovering Psychology movie with a worksheet assignment. Today being Friday, we chose the latter option and as Mrs. Kiel was setting up the movie, she brought up the topic of underage drinking in school. We ended up talking for about a half-an-hour about social taboos in our society. After that lengthly conversation, we started the movie, but we didn't finish the last ten minutes or so.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hey Guys!

We spent the vast majority of the hour finishing our study guide and prepping for tomorrow's (Tuesdday's) test. Everybody was doing a really great job, but it was still pretty neat to watch a yawn travel from table to table.

For the last few minutes of class, Mrs. Kiel gave us the answers to the test! I've never had a teacher do that, and it's pretty much the coolest thing ever!

Until next time, gang!

Thursday December 6, 2007:

Mrs. Kiel started off the hour by telling us about the high foreclosure rates in Michigan, and how the economy here is going down the drain as we speak. We then finished watching Scent of a Woman, which, in my personal opinion, was one of the best movies ever created. At the end of the hour, Mrs. Kiel told us to brainstorm and prepare to write an essay on the movie for tomorrow. She said the essay would be due tomorrow as well, so be prepared for a day of writing!

I forgot to leave a comment when it was my turn to scribe. This is for Dec. 20, 2007. It was the second to last day of school before break and all we did was watch a Christmas movie. The movie we watched was "Jingle All the Way". I personally like that movie.
Well I'm going to go.. bye

P.S. sorry about posting it so late.

Hey gang!
This is Randy Strobl out in the blogosphere telling you that today - Jan. 14 - we had a great time learining all about Mrs. Kiel's crazy college days (we even learned a thing or two about how substances can affect our brains). We wrote a journal listing drugs & what they do. Pretty much everyone was in class except Vernon LaCrosse - and it's hard to have a good time without him.

I'm pretty sure this is my last Scribe ever.
I'll miss you guys!

She'll read this book almost everyday for about 5 minutes. The class then began reading and outling chapter 10(due end of the hour tomorrow) Don't forget to turn in your autobiographies! Hello, wow this this is so confusing this is a little late it is supposed to be for feb 6th but it is the 19th because i totally forgot about scribing over break. We did a minute read from the book Chicken Soup. We also opened our psych books and dicussed things from chapter ten that we knew and understood and things that we were a little confused on and needed help with so basically we just brainstormed the whole hour and of course wrote in our journals. =]

Right, here's what we did:
Mrs. Kiel gave us until the end of the hour to complete the outline. She talked a bit at the beginning of class about stuff we would do in addition to the chapter, like adolenscent issues. Outside the brief discussion, we pretty much worked on the outline and Ch.11 Packet.

Today, March 3rd 2008, Mrs. Kiel was not here today(bummer:l ). Mr Flarity was are Sub for the Hour and we started off by taking attendance which Jacob was the only one absent. Then he discussed what was the plan for the hour which was watching "The Dead Poets Society." Mr. Flarity dicussed the parts of the movie he knew and proceeded to tell us our assignment. The Assignment was to write notes on the movie and relate it to the teen issues we discussed on Friday (February 29, 2008). We watched the movie for the rest of the hour and then left.

There was no Journal for the day

Well, hey! March 6th right after the snow day. Due to the complications of the snow day, we finished up watching the video, Dead Poets Society, and Mrs. Kiel talked about what we are doing in the future week/couple days during the Junior MME testing. We also had a journal after the video was over so, when we get back to school check the scribe binder thing for it.

GOOD LUCK JUNIORS ON YOUR MME TEST!

Mrs. Kiel began the hour by talking a bit about spring break and what the lessons were going to be like proceeding it. I, unfortunately, missed most of this as I was - once again - tardy. I apologize for my incompetence!
The rest of the class period was spent putting the finishing touches on the Teen Issue projects to be turned in tomorrow (3/18/08).
There was no journal entry, nor were any additional assignments given.
And, uh, Happy St. Patrick's Day! or something like that...

She then went on to tell the story about her dad :( Mind you, it was very sad to hear. Mrs. Kiel also made the work packet due (4/04/08).

Where the Scribes Are in Control.....

A scribe is a student who has been assigned to log what is done in my class for a specific day. It is the scribe's responsiblity to make sure that they keep track of what goes on in class, as well as list what was done in class and the assignments that were given for that day. You will receive a grade based on how complete your post is. Be as accurateand as thorough as possible, but have fun. Happy Scribing!
